NFT works by Kandinsky, Malevich sold at SPIEF auction

MOSCOW, Jun 16 (PRIME) -- Non-fungible tokens (NFT) of paintings by Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich have been sold at an auction for a total of 500,000 rubles at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), a spokesperson for painter Nikas Safronov, who also took part in the auction, told PRIME on Thursday.

“Works in the NFT format were presented at the auction. That evening one could buy digital copies of paintings by famous artists and show business stars. The works of our eminent painters Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich scooped 300,000 and 200,000 rubles, respectively,” the spokesperson said.

The most expensive lot was Safronov’s work that was purchased for 5 million rubles.
